周三9月11日舉辦的家校之夜吸引了東華文澤學(xué)校的全體家長(zhǎng)參與。活動(dòng)目的是讓家長(zhǎng)對(duì)我們的教學(xué)團(tuán)隊(duì)、教學(xué)課程、以及我們于輔助學(xué)生在個(gè)人和學(xué)術(shù)成長(zhǎng)方面采取的方法有更深的了解。家長(zhǎng)們都積極參與活動(dòng)當(dāng)中，十分投入在小學(xué)部和中學(xué)部老師帶領(lǐng)的分組會(huì)議。

　　The Parent Information Evening drew full attendance on Wednesday, September 11. The event was to introduce parents to our academic team, curriculum programs as well as our holistic approach to support the personal and academic growth of students. Parents were keen to get involved and paid attention during breakout sessions led by PYP and MYP teachers.

　　Question 1

　　我們的上課時(shí)間是多少天?

　　How many days do we come to school?
 

　　我們的在校時(shí)間為180天。每年至少93%的出勤率以學(xué)生順利規(guī)劃。這意味著我們不能積累超過(guò)18次無(wú)故缺席。如果我們因生病而錯(cuò)過(guò)上課，我們需要向校長(zhǎng)Ms Ann出示醫(yī)生證明，才不會(huì)被當(dāng)作是無(wú)故缺席。

　　We have 180 days of school. In order to be promoted to the next grade level, we need to go to school at least 93% of the year. This means we cannot accumulate more than 18 unexcused absences. If we miss class due to illness, we need to present a medical certificate to Principal Ms. Ann so that she will consider it as an excused absence.

　　我們什么時(shí)間到校，什么時(shí)間放學(xué)?

　　What time do we come to school and at what time do we leave school?
 

　　寄宿學(xué)生的到校時(shí)間為每周日晚18：30前。我們的走讀生應(yīng)該每天7:45左右到校。所有學(xué)生應(yīng)在8:00在班級(jí)教室報(bào)到。

　　Our boarding students arrive on Sunday night before 18:30. Our Day Boarders should be dropped off around 7:45 every day. All students report to their homeroom teachers at 8:00.

　　不參加周一至周四CASE課外活動(dòng)的學(xué)生，家長(zhǎng)可以下午4點(diǎn)在學(xué)校大門(mén)接學(xué)生。參加CASE課外活動(dòng)的學(xué)生，家長(zhǎng)需要下午六點(diǎn)準(zhǔn)時(shí)接送。

　　From Monday to Thursday, if Day students do not want to take part in extra-curricular activities called CASE, they can be picked up at 4 pm by the Front Gate. If they participate in CASE, they need to be picked up promptly at 6 pm.

　　各位家長(zhǎng)請(qǐng)遵守下午接孩子的時(shí)間，如果有三次遲到接孩子的記錄，將無(wú)法再加入CASE課外活動(dòng)。請(qǐng)理解我們的老師還有其他教學(xué)工作，為免耽誤時(shí)間，感謝您的配合。

　　Please understand that our teachers have other responsibilities so they should not be spending their time waiting for you. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

　　每周五，小學(xué)下午3:30放學(xué)，中學(xué)下午4點(diǎn)放學(xué)。再次要求家長(zhǎng)不要遲到，因?yàn)槔蠋煼艑W(xué)后需要進(jìn)行教學(xué)會(huì)議。

　　On Fridays, primary dismissal is at 3:30 pm while secondary dismissal is at 4 pm. Parents are again requested not to be late because teachers need to attend meetings.

　　What do we wear to school?
 

　　東華文澤學(xué)校統(tǒng)一穿著校服，目的是讓學(xué)校營(yíng)造一個(gè)安全和有序的學(xué)習(xí)環(huán)境，同時(shí)可以避免因不同著裝風(fēng)格造成的攀比和分心，使學(xué)校管理更加有紀(jì)律性。

　　TWIS has a uniform to help create a safe and orderly environment, to instill discipline and to eliminate competition and distractions caused by varied dress styles. We have four types of uniform that students are expected to wear starting next week.

　　我們?cè)趯W(xué)校說(shuō)什么語(yǔ)言?

　　What language do we speak in school?
 

　　英語(yǔ)是學(xué)校官方的交流語(yǔ)言。作為英語(yǔ)為非母語(yǔ)(EAL)的學(xué)生，來(lái)到TWIS是期望自己的英語(yǔ)口語(yǔ)和書(shū)面語(yǔ)更加優(yōu)秀。即使母語(yǔ)為英語(yǔ)的家長(zhǎng)也希望他們的孩子的英語(yǔ)水平不斷提高。學(xué)生可以在課堂討論中使用他們的母語(yǔ)，但是，當(dāng)他們向老師提出自己的想法時(shí)，學(xué)校鼓勵(lì)學(xué)生使用英語(yǔ)交流。

　　English is the language of communication and instruction in school. English as an Additional Language (EAL) students come to TWIS wanting and expecting to become more fluent in spoken and written English. Parents of native speakers of English expect that their children will also develop sophisticated, confident use of English. Students can use their mother tongue in classroom discussion but when they present their ideas to their teachers they are encouraged to speak in English.

　　放學(xué)后我們做什么?

　　What do we do after school?
 

　　放學(xué)后我們有課外活動(dòng)，這個(gè)課外活動(dòng)叫CASE，CASE這四個(gè)字母代表創(chuàng)意(Creativity)、活動(dòng)(Activity)、服務(wù)(Service)和英語(yǔ)(English)。學(xué)生可以每天選擇兩個(gè)課外活動(dòng)，這樣他們就可以學(xué)習(xí)到新技能并參與有趣的活動(dòng)。

　　We have extra-curricular activities called CASE, which stands for Creativity, Activity, Service and English. Students can choose two clubs a day so that they can learn new skills and engage in fun activities.

　　家長(zhǎng)如何知道我們?cè)趯W(xué)校里發(fā)生了什么?

　　How can parents find out what is happening in school?
 

　　家長(zhǎng)可以通過(guò)電子郵件聯(lián)系老師。我們還將有一個(gè)PowerSchool家校平臺(tái)，大家可以在這里閱讀公告，并提出問(wèn)題。如有其他咨詢，家長(zhǎng)們也可以打電話給學(xué)校。

　　Parents can reach the teachers by email. We will also have a PowerSchool Parent Portal where parents can read announcements, and ask questions. For other inquiries, parents can also call the school.

 

　　Question 7

　　我們可以在學(xué)校慶祝生日嗎?還有其他的慶祝活動(dòng)嗎?

　　Can we celebrate birthdays in school? What other events do we celebrate?
 

　　是的，學(xué)生們可以在學(xué)校慶祝他們的生日。您可以遞送生日蛋糕或其他健康零食到學(xué)校，學(xué)生可以在茶點(diǎn)時(shí)段與同學(xué)們分享。我們會(huì)在名為COLA ( Celebration Of Learning Assembly) 的早會(huì)慶祝大家在學(xué)校學(xué)習(xí)的成果。

　　Yes, we can celebrate your child’s birthday. You can send a birthday cake or other healthy treats that students can share during snack time. We celebrate what we learn from school through assemblies called COLA. It is short for Celebration of Learning Assembly.
